How Long Do Watch Batteries Last

Changing The Battery In A Fossil Watch (DIY)

Watch batteries are designed to not need replacing often. The battery duration will depend on the watch and its features, but a newly purchased watch should last up to 2 years, or even up to 3 or 4 years in some cases.

In older watches, the battery should last between 14 and 18 months. However, it may need replacing sooner for various reasons:

  • The older your watch is, the faster it will drain the battery.
  • Features such as LED displays, alarms and chronograph will drain the battery faster than a regular analogue watch. If you want your watch battery to last as long as possible, we recommend not leaving the chronograph running all the time.
  • Sometimes a watch battery’s life may be affected by external factors such as extreme temperatures, humidity or air pressure.

Important note: We strongly recommend you replace your watch battery every two years to avoid potential leakages that could damage your watch.

How To Change Fossil Watch Battery

Fossil watches are great quality, stylish watches built at an affordable price. They are high quality, finely constructed watches with tight tolerances. You can change the battery yourself if you have the tools and skills, but it really is best to have a professional change the battery for a number of reasons:

  • Tightly fitting casebacks with screw locks. Some Fossil watches have a screw down case back that is held securely by the threads on the back of the case. It requires the right tools and skill to remove them without stripping the notches on the back of the case or slipping and scratching it.
  • Tightly pressed casebacks. Fossil watches that don’t have screw casebacks will usually have press backs instead. These require a very watch knife to pry the back off. This can be a tricky process that should be done extremely carefully. Doing it wrong could result in a scratched watch, cut fingers or bending the caseback
  • Fine, battery restraint arm. Many of these watches have a small moveable arm that holds the Fossil watch battery in place and completes the circuit. This arm is often gold plated and rather delicate and requires the loosening of a small screw to move it out of the way. It’s critical to do this carefully to prevent stripping the screw or slipping and damaging the watch coil. Not to mention it’s very easy to drop or lose the screw or arm. And once it’s gone – it could be up to $40 or $50 to replace it!

    Fossil Carlyle Hr Battery Replacement

Does anyone have any experience with Fossil Group Services support? If you do, I’d like your input on what I should do, if anything.

After a couple of years of use, my Fossil has started needing to be recharged every 3-4 hours or so. I decided to send it off to Fossil for a battery replacement which is a repair for ~$45. They responded with a quote to replace the “Touchscreen Smartwatch Module” for $127.

Nothing was wrong with the touch screen.

I’ve been trying to contact them to find out if this will replace the battery too since nothing was wrong with the rest of the watch, it just didn’t keep a charge for very long.

Their front-facing support hasn’t been extremely helpful. The quote they sent instructed me to reply to the email if I had any questions, and I did, but received nothing in response. The next email I received was a notification that they only hold the item for 45 days and I had used 10 days of it.

So I hopped on their chat on their website, and he didn’t have more information, but said he would forward my question to the engineers and I should hear back.

Then today I received an email response to what appears to be my original email. It vaguely explained what the “Touchscreen Smartwatch module” is and that their techs examine all parts of the watch to “guarantee the 100% performance of the product.” Then instructed me to call them if I have any questions.

I have questions. Like: “Will the battery be replaced?”
