How Do I Get My Iphone To Display Battery Percentage
Apple unveiled iPhone X back in 2017and the device came with a notch, which continued in the latest edition. Nowadays, you wont find a notch Android device in the market in any segment and budget. But, iPhone has no choice here and lives with the notch due to the Face ID sensor taking up a lot of space on the top of the screen.
Yes, its the notch that is preventing the Apple software developers from fitting the battery percentage. A lot of important information is shown on the top panel, and the developers didnt have the battery percentage on the priority list.
They added a compelling battery widget instead, which is supposed to solve it temporarily. I dont see Apple software developers finding a way to fit in the battery % in the top panel anytime soon.
In short, we have to wait until 2023 September, when Apple launches iPhone 15 with a notch-less design. Yes, Apple has to find a way to get rid of the notch from the top because thinning the size wont resolve anything.

What If Your Iphone Cant Get The Feature
That seems almost offensively simple, doesnt it? Unfortunately, not all iPhone owners will find it so easy.
First of all, not all iPhones can install iOS 16. Weve listed the iOS-16 compatible iPhones in a separate article, but the headline news is that the iPhone 7, 6s, and first-gen SE all miss out. You need an iPhone 8 or latter, essentially.
But even some of the phones that can install iOS 16 wont get this specific feature. As we revealed in our story covering the announcement, the battery percentage indicator is not available on the iPhone XR, 11, 12 mini and 13 mini.
In short, you need one of the following phones to get the battery percentage feature:
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
However, that may be changing. In the first iOS 16.1 beta, Apple has added the battery percentage indicator option to the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini. Theres no guarantee that itll launch in the general iOS 16.1 release in October, but our fingers are crossed. For now, you can download the iOS 16.1 public beta to test it out.

While some had hoped the iPhone 13s smaller notch would allow the devices to show the phones battery percentage in the status bar, well have to wait for the iPhone 14 it seems.

Thankfully for users, Apple has provided iPhone owners with the chance to see the exact percentage of battery power left on their device for many generations now. Finding it is a little different on the iPhone 13 and Pro Models, however.
Unlike with previous versions of the iPhone, where you needed to turn it on in the settings app, Battery Percentage is a basic function on the iPhone 13 across all models.
All you need to do to see it is open the Control Center, which can be done by swiping down from the upper-right corner of the iPhone screen. You will then see how much percentage is left in the upper-right part of the screen, next to the power icon.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 series features a 20% narrower notch, allowing ample room to display the actual remaining battery life. When Batteries Chemically Age
All rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age.
As lithium-ion batteries chemically age, the amount of charge they can hold diminishes, resulting in shorter amounts of time before a device needs to be recharged. This can be referred to as the batterys maximum capacitythe measure of battery capacity relative to when it was new. In addition, a batterys ability to deliver maximum instantaneous performance, or peak power, may decrease. In order for a phone to function properly, the electronics must be able to draw upon instantaneous power from the battery. One attribute that affects this instantaneous power delivery is the batterys impedance. A battery with a high impedance may be unable to provide sufficient power to the system that needs it. A batterys impedance can increase if a battery has a higher chemical age. A batterys impedance will temporarily increase at a low state of charge and in a cold temperature environment. When coupled with a higher chemical age, the impedance increase will be more significant. These are characteristics of battery chemistry that are common to all lithium-ion batteries in the industry.

Display Battery Percentage On All Iphone Models
After making you wait for more than five years, Apple has finally made it possible to see the amount of battery left on your notched iPhones without having to access the Control Center or Siri. The battery percentage option is now widely available on all iPhones with or without a notch. That means you can easily keep track of the amount of juice left in your iPhone. However, as you can tell from the screenshots above, the implementation is flawed as the battery percentage value is always displayed in a full battery icon. The battery icon no longer shows the battery being depleted when you enable this feature, which is just weird.
Now, once you install iOS 16 on your device, are you going to enable the battery percentage feature on your Face ID-backed iPhone? Let us know in the comments below.

iOS 16 finally brought back the iPhones battery percentage indicator after a 5-year absence, though it was missing from certain smaller iPhones with Face ID during launch simply because there was not enough space. Thankfully, it has been rectified by Apple and now, all iPhones with a notch or display cutouts have this feature.
Specifically, the release of iOS 16.1 added support for showing battery percentage icons for the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. Essentially, iPhone users now have the option to show the current battery percentage of their device within the battery icon on the status bar of their device.
Previously, the battery icon on the status bar would only show colours corresponding to the battery level, with users having to pull down from the status bar to actually see the current battery percentage. In order to turn on the feature, users only need to go to Settings, select Battery and turn on the Battery Percentage option.
