Would it be more convenient if Apple just added the battery percentage to the top of the screen without any other steps? Of course. But until that happens, these are the next best options.

This one requires just one step – simply swipe downwards from the top-right of the screen to pull down the control panel there, you’ll find the battery percentage in the top-right corner.
