No Battery Percentage For These Iphones
Apple, via a recent support document, has confirmed that the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini wont support iOS 16s Battery Percentage feature. This means that these models will continue to show the battery percentage in the Control Center, which was an option for all iPhones with a notch up until now.
The iPhone SE, the iPhone 8 or earlier, and even the iPads showed the battery percentage in the status bar from the beginning.
That said, the iPhone XS series, the iPhone 11 Pro, the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the iPhone 14 series will now show the battery percentage right on the home screen without requiring users to specifically get to the Control Center for the purpose.
In order to enable this, you are simply required to head to the Battery section under the Settings and enable the Battery Percentage option. With this, the white battery icon will include the battery percentage and will remain filled until the battery is about 20%.

How Do You Permanently Display The Percentage Of Battery On Iphone 14

Add A Battery Widget To Your Home Screen
If you want to be able to see the battery percentage of your iPhone when it’s unlocked and on the Home Screen, add a battery widget to it.
To do so, long press on a blank area of the Home Screen or any additional screen of apps to enter jiggle mode. Tap the plus button in the top-left corner of the screen to open the Widget Gallery, then enter “Batteries” in the search field or scroll down and select the Batteries widget from the list.
If you don’t have any Apple accessories paired with your iPhone, the first square widget will display the battery percentage. What If Your Iphone Cant Get The Feature
That seems almost offensively simple, doesnt it? Unfortunately, not all iPhone owners will find it so easy.
First of all, not all iPhones can install iOS 16. Weve listed the iOS-16 compatible iPhones in a separate article, but the headline news is that the iPhone 7, 6s, and first-gen SE all miss out. You need an iPhone 8 or latter, essentially.
But even some of the phones that can install iOS 16 wont get this specific feature. As we revealed in our story covering the announcement, the battery percentage indicator is not available on the iPhone XR, 11, 12 mini and 13 mini.
In short, you need one of the following phones to get the battery percentage feature:
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
However, that may be changing. In the first iOS 16.1 beta, Apple has added the battery percentage indicator option to the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini. Theres no guarantee that itll launch in the general iOS 16.1 release in October, but our fingers are crossed. For now, you can download the iOS 16.1 public beta to test it out.
Reading The Battery Percentage Indicator
Your iPhone now shows you its battery status in percentage form, but the display changes slightly depending on a number of factors.
- The battery indicator turns yellow when the iPhone is in Low Power Mode.
- The battery indicator turns red if your iPhones battery is below 20 percent and not in Low Power Mode.
- A small charging icon appears beside the battery percentage when the iPhone is charging.

Display Iphone 13 Battery Percentage With One Swipe

iOS 16 finally brought back the iPhones battery percentage indicator after a 5-year absence, though it was missing from certain smaller iPhones with Face ID during launch simply because there was not enough space. Thankfully, it has been rectified by Apple and now, all iPhones with a notch or display cutouts have this feature.
Specifically, the release of iOS 16.1 added support for showing battery percentage icons for the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. Essentially, iPhone users now have the option to show the current battery percentage of their device within the battery icon on the status bar of their device.
Previously, the battery icon on the status bar would only show colours corresponding to the battery level, with users having to pull down from the status bar to actually see the current battery percentage. In order to turn on the feature, users only need to go to Settings, select Battery and turn on the Battery Percentage option.

A battery’s impedance can increase if a battery has a higher chemical age. A batterys impedance will temporarily increase at a low state of charge and in a cold temperature environment. When coupled with a higher chemical age, the impedance increase will be more significant. These are characteristics of battery chemistry that are common to all lithium-ion batteries in the industry.

Battery Percentage On Iphone 13 And Iphone 13 Pro
Users of iPhone 8 and before can activate the battery percentage in the status bar. This, however, is not possible with the iPhone X and subsequent iPhones with Face ID. Thats because the big notch at the top of the iPhone screen doesnt allow for the battery percentage symbol to be shown.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 series features a 20% narrower notch, allowing ample room to display the actual remaining battery life. Despite having a reduced notch, the iPhone 13 still does not display the battery percentage in the status bar. However, Apple may include it as an option in Settings in a future iOS 15 release.

For Ios 113 And Later

If the battery health is able to support the observed peak power requirements, the amount of performance management will be lowered. If an unexpected shutdown occurs again, then performance management will increase. This assessment is ongoing, allowing more adaptive performance management.
iPhone 8 and later use a more advanced hardware and software design that provides a more accurate estimation of both power needs and the batterys power capability to maximize overall system performance. This allows a different performance management system that more precisely allows iOS to anticipate and avoid an unexpected shutdown. As a result, the impacts of performance management may be less noticeable on iPhone 8 and later. Over time, the rechargeable batteries in all iPhone models will diminish in their capacity and peak performance and will eventually need to be replaced.
Your Battery’s Maximum Capacity
The Battery Health screen includes information on maximum battery capacity and peak performance capability.
Maximum battery capacity measures the device battery capacity relative to when it was new. A battery will have lower capacity as the battery chemically ages which may result in fewer hours of usage between charges. Depending upon the length of time between when the iPhone was made and when it is activated, your battery capacity may show as slightly less than 100%.
A normal battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles when operating under normal conditions.
