Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model Specifications
When we ran Grand Theft Auto V‘s benchmark at very high settings, the 2022 Blade 15 was edged out at 1080p by the Aorus by a single frame , while it beat the previous Blade 15 Advanced by 6 fps at 1080p and 5 fps at 1440p. Again, the Zephyrus was far behind at 71 and 41 fps, depending on resolution settings.
Far Cry New Dawn‘s benchmark is more demanding on the CPU, and so saw the new Intel 12th Gen powered Blade 15 looking its best yet, nearly 20 fps ahead of its predecessor at 1080p and 14 fps ahead of the bigger Gigabyte laptop. And the new Blade 15 was the only laptop here to go beyond 60 fps at resolutions above 1080p.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 benchmark saw the new Blade 15 significantly lose out to the larger Aorus 17 XE4 for the first time, with the Razer managing 68 fps at 1080p, while the Aorus hit 76 fps. Continuing the trends elsewhere though, the previous Blade 15 was markedly slower, and the Zephyrus was again lonely in last place, slipping just below 30 fps at its native resolution. Last up, in Borderlands 3 , the 2022 Blade 15 led at 1440p, but lagged behind the Aorus at 1080p and just barely beat the Zephyrus at that resolution.
During that test, the CPU’s Performance cores ran at an average of 2.88 GHz, while the Efficiency cores averaged 2.23 GHz. The CPU package hit an average temperature of 82.23 degrees Celsius. The GPU, meanwhile, had an average clock speed of 1,254 MHz and measured 74.99 degrees Celsius.

The New Hardware Updates Makes It The Fastest Blade Yet But Is It Worth The Cost

Lets get it straight right off the bat: the Razer Blade 15 is a powerhouse of a gaming laptop. It shrugs off the latest games with an almost unconcerned disdain, and has some of the most powerful internals to match up to any task you can put it through. But for $2,999, you would expect that as Razer continues to release laptops at the most premium end of the pricing.
However, the Blade might be in need of a design refresh. The newer model still retains the slick, almost Mac-like appearance that fans have come to love, but Razers if it aint broken, dont fix it approach to its design might need a reconsideration as it now faces tougher competition against other brands. For one, despite the slight refresh, the keyboard leaves a lot to be desired, the battery life is poorer compared to last years model , and the heat management during heavy load is just not up to snuff.
But lets talk about the pricing of the new Blade 15s before we delve into the nitty gritty of the device. The basic configuration for the Razer Blade 15 will fetch you the Intel Core-i7 12800H processor, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, and a QHD 240Hz G-Sync display for $2,499.
Our review unit features the same exact specifications except that it comes with an RTX 3070 Ti and a FHD 360Hz display and costs $2,999.

Design Of The Razer Blade 15
Not a whole lot has changed aesthetically with the Blade 15 compared to last year’s Blade 15 Advanced, but that’s fine because Razer’s black aluminum chassis have long been considered one of the nicest in the gaming laptop gameespecially if you like understated designs. Although, as always, the green three-headed Razer snake logo clashes pretty hard with the otherwise sleek design. If you aren’t familiar with Razer’s laptop designs, they’re similar to Apple’s MacBooks in their rigid aluminum shells and rounded corners. But of course, since these are Razer gaming laptops, the shells are black. The company does sell similar silver laptops under the Razer Book brand, but they’re 13-inch models with integrated graphics. You do, though, get an RGB-lit keyboard with Razer’s laptops, which adds a bit of customizable gamer edginess.
One aspect of the Blade 15 design that’s definitely not apple-like, though, is the bottom. Razer has tweaked the base and the hinge this time around to allow for better cooling, which largely involves removing metal from the chassis. But that hasn’t changed the laptop’s weight or dimensions. At 4.4 pounds and 3.98 x 9.25 x 0.67 inches , the Blade 15 isn’t the smallest or lightest laptop. But it isn’t particularly bulky either. If you want something smaller and lighter , Asus’ 14-inch Zephyrus G14 is 3.79 pounds and 12.28 x 8.94 x 0.76 inches.

Maybe If You Really Like Razer
The Razer Blade 14 can be summed up like this: If you’re drawn to its classy looks more than its performance, then this laptop is for you. I just hope you like spending money.
Razer has the science of packing tons of power into a tiny chassis down to an art. Companies like Asus, MSI, Acer, Lenovo, and others have recently swapped the traditionally bulky gamer aesthetic for designs that fit better into a work environment. But all those companies usually sacrifice something to keep the price as low as possible, whether thats keyboard quality, battery life, or a dim and color-muted display. The Razer Blade 14 not only has the look but it also has premium extras like a fantastic keyboard and great battery life to back it up. But youll pay a pretty penny to get them.
If spending $2,600 on a gaming laptop is too rich for your blood, and youre not particularly fond of Razers aesthetic, there are a plethora of options that will net you powerful gaming performance for hundreds of dollars less. The Asus ROG Strix G15 with a last-gen Ryzen 9 5900HX nets similar performance to the Blade 14, as does the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Gen 6, MSI Delta 15, and many others. Like last-gens Blade 14, the performance of the newest one is great, but not gonzo,” because Razer has capped the graphics card’s power draw. This doesn’t affect performance if ray tracing is turned off, but it does when the special lighting feature is turned on.
The Best Razer Blade Yet
The OLED 240Hz Razer Blade 15 is the best in the line yet. It doesnt fix some of the problems that the Razer Blade has always had, but it heightens the gaming experience in a major way thanks to this screen.
Then again, its also one of the most expensive configurations in the lineup, coming in at $3,300. Thats $300 more than the 1440p 240Hz model and in my opinion, its worth that price difference simply for the ability to enjoy HDR gaming.
Then again, it should be noted that the MSI Raider GE67 HX features this same panel for a much lower price. Thats a heftier laptop without the bells and whistles of the Razer design, but if its just performance and fantastic image quality that youre looking for, the MSI model might provide more value than the Razer Blade 15. Thats typical for the Razer brand, but certainly something to keep in mind if youre interested in this screen in particular.

Also, the fact, Razer Blade gaming laptops are made with CNC milled aluminium throughout which is in itself an excellent heat conductor that will soak up a lot of heat. Thus, making the chassis feel much warmer underload than other gaming laptops that are mostly plastic.

Pcmark 10 Modern Office Battery
One of the newest battery tests that have been added to the suite is the PCMark 10 Modern Office battery test, which runs a set of workloads from the PCMark 10 benchmark suite in ten minute intervals, so if a device has better performance, it is able to complete the test sooner and get more idle time out of the ten minute window. As it is a new test, we have not been able to run it on most of the other gaming systems weve reviewed, so for this comparison, all other devices that have been tested so far are in the list. Several of them include dGPUs, but none of the other devices offer anywhere near as much performance. That, coupled with the relatively small battery in the Razer Blade 15 Base model, drop it to the bottom of this list.
Razer Blade 1: Display

All Razer Blade 15s have a 15.6-inch screen. Beyond that, the details can vary tremendously. They range from 1080p to 4K, and from 144 Hz to 360 Hz. It would take too long to break down every possible configuration suffice it to say that you can either prioritize resolution or frame rate, so choose accordingly.
Heres how the Blade 15 compares against other gaming laptops that Toms Guide has reviewed and tested recently:
0.21 | 0.25 |
The Razer holds its own against comparable devices such as the Asus ROG Strix Scar, and outperforms cheaper machines such as the MSI Bravo 15 B5DD, sometimes by a wide margin. The Blade 15s 123% of the sRGB color gamut is particularly impressive. In practice, it gives the screen a bright, vibrant and accurate color palette.

Razer Blade 15 Specifications
The Razer Blade 15 comes in CPU configurations up to Core i9-12900H and with select Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs, the most powerful being the RTX 3080 Ti which we were lucky enough to have in our review unit. Three display types are available, including FHD, QHD or 4K options with varying refresh rates. The specification of our review unit is as follows:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-12800H
- Price: $3,699.99
Key Factors That Affect Longevity
- Poor Maintenance
- Poor Battery Health
- Physical Damage
Another factor is whether the device becomes infected with a virus. If it has, then gaming laptops can experience problems. Such as damaged programs, corrupted files, and malware can even reformat your hard drives. And this can result in them being unusable.
Lastly, accidents can also happen, such as dropping or accidentally knocking your laptop when the laptop is in your bag. Unfortunately, this can reduce the lifespan of your Razer laptop down to zero.
The same could happen if you throw your laptop across the room in frustration. From a sudden urge of game rage, which happens often. If you cannot control your temper, your Razer laptop will not last at all.

Razer Blade 15 Review: Still A Stylish Gaming Laptop For The Deep Pocketed
Razer undoubtedly knows how to make a great gaming laptop. But, like Apple, you don’t buy a Razer for value.
Razer’s Blade gaming laptops don’t change much year to year, because why mess with a good thing? There are small improvements to the design but nothing changes too drastically. The 15.6-inch Blade 15 for 2022, for instance, now has laser-cut speaker grills, slightly larger keycaps and the power button is in the keyboard’s upper-right corner instead of on the right speaker. The overall look and feel, though, remain basically the same as the last several versions because, again, why mess with a good thing?
The biggest changes are to the components inside and the display options:
- New 12th-gen Intel Core i7-12800H or Core i9-12900HK processors
- 16GB or 32GB of DDR5 memory, upgradeable to 64GB
- 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, upgradeable to 2TB
- Up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics
- Full-HD webcam with an IR camera for Windows Hello facial recognition
- 360Hz FHD display with 100% sRGB color gamut, or 240Hz QHD or 144Hz UHD displays with 100% P3 color gamut
Essentially, everything we’ve liked about past Razer Blade models stands: a streamlined, slim and sturdy design with plenty of ports and a comfortable Razer Chroma RGB keyboard. And now the Blade 15 has the latest from Intel and Nvidia and new high-quality panel options for gaming. However, also like past models, the Razer Blade 15 is by no means a bargain and can get toasty while gaming.
Why Buy The Razer Blade 15
The main point is that the device has a wide range of great specs, and no matter what gaming notebook you’re looking for, there’s an option for the Razer Blade 15.
The 2017 laptop models were cheaper and less powerful, while the 2019 models offered more horsepower for more money.
You can also configure many of the specs on the Razer website to meet your specific needs in between, giving you plenty of options.
Plus, all Razer Blade 15 models are amazingly thin and light enough to take with you when you’re out and about. Portability is important to any laptop, and the Razer Blade 15 exceeds expectations in this regard.

Razer Blade 15 2022 Battery Life
This Blade 15 2022 laptop has a great and impressive battery life. You can easily play video games for up to 710 hours at full brightness and 810 hours at 50% brightness. I recommend that you play games at 50-80% throttle so that your gaming fps increase and your CPU temperature does not reach its maximum. Also, it has a cooling system, so you can easily get the best performance from the battery life.
How Long Do Razer Laptop Batteries Last
Razer Blade laptop batteries can last about 4-5 hours on average. However, this may vary depending on the type of work you are doing and the settings of your Razer laptop.
For example, if you are running several programs at once or youre running an intensive application. Or you have the screen brightness turned up high, then your battery will drain faster.
You also have to understand Razer gaming laptops have powerful hardware inside. They also have illuminated RGB-powered keyboards. So, a lot of power is needed from the battery.
However, I did some tests using battery power alone with the Razer Blade 15 to see how long it lasts. See the table below. Everything I wanted to do the battery lasted long enough to get the job done.

Table Showing Results from the Razer Blade 15 Battery Test
The only thing I had issues with was when I attempted to run an intensive game on battery power alone. Unfortunately, the Razer Blade 15 was unable to handle the game, the FPS was poor, and I experienced stuttering. Therefore, the battery is not powerful enough for AAA gaming.
This should not be the reason not to choose a Razer Blade laptop. Other powerful gaming laptops are not that much better and have the same common issue when it comes to the battery life. However, Razer will not be the best option if battery power is more important to you.
