[20+ Tips] FIX Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 (Classic)!

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Classic models offer different designs and are made for different users. Both Galaxy Watch 4 models offer thinner cases than their respective predecessors good news if you werent a fan of the Galaxy Watch 3s bulkier design.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is made of aluminum, and the Watch 4 Classic has a stainless steel case. Youll also notice the bigger overall footprint of the Classic model due to the rotating bezel for navigating around the interface. You can navigate around the regular Galaxy Watch 4 by swiping along the side of the watch case, but most users will likely just use traditional swipes and taps on the touchscreen.

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are for different users, but you’ll get a great-looking device whichever model you choose.

The Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic both come in two sizes. The standard model can be configured with a 44mm case and a 1.36-inch display or a 40mm model with a 1.19-inch display. The Watch 4 Classic comes in 46mm or 42mm case sizes, with the same display sizes as the standard Watch 4. All displays in question are AMOLED panels, and they all offer higher pixel densities than their predecessors.

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic also use the same 20mm watch straps despite the different sizes. The silicone straps you get with the watch arent the best, but there are plenty of excellent third-party options to choose from available.

Galaxy Watch 5 Battery Life Gets A Little Boost

The regular Galaxy Watch 5 lasts longer than the previous version, but not by a huge jump. I tested the 40mm version with its 284-mAh battery, and it lasts around 24 hours between charges with the always-on display turned off. This includes sleep tracking, a GPS workout for approximately one hour and notifications from my phone.

With the always-on display active, that drops slightly to around 21 hours with the same usage. Usually I’ll need to give the watch a little bit of a top-up before bed if I want to track sleep. If you find yourself in the same boat, I’d recommend having at least 30% battery remaining, especially if you’re tracking blood oxygen, snoring levels and heart rate overnight. You can also give it a quick recharge before bed. Just 8 minutes of charge time will give you enough battery to last through the night.

Samsung claims the regular Galaxy Watch 5 offers up to 40 hours of total battery life, but it feels almost impossible to hit that number without leaving it in airplane mode most of the time. That means I wouldn’t get notifications, calls or be able to use the watch for anything apart from telling the time, which kind of defeats the purpose.

The 44mm version that I haven’t tested yet comes with a larger capacity battery at 410 mAh, so I’d expect it to last longer. Samsung quotes 50 hours.

There Are Now Two Different Galaxy Watch 4 Models

Before we really get stuck in though, lets clear something up. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic sees the series split into two different models. This Classic model is the direct follow-up to 2020s Galaxy Watch 3, complete with a distinct rotating bezel design.

Alternatively, there is a new version, simply called the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, coming without a rotating bezel where you swipe around the edge of the screen in a circular motion to replicate the bezel action of the Classic. The non-Classic model also comes with smaller displays but otherwise carries the same specs and features. The biggest difference is the price.

Turn Off Always On Display

The Always-On display is known to be a battery hog as it keeps your display consistent on whether you want to take a look at the time or not. While useful, it can eat away at your battery life. So, disabling it definitely helps with battery drain on your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.

To disable the Always On Display, open the Settings application, head to Display, and Toggle off Always On Display.

Turn Off Network Connections

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Battery Life Issues

Another reason why the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic battery is draining fast could be due to your network connections. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and there are some models with an LTE modem. Trying to search for connectivity doesnt play well with battery life, especially if the connection is spotty. So, in that case, youll want to turn off those connections.

  • From your Watch, open the Settings app.
  • Tap Connections.
  • Tap the toggle next to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  • If you have an LTE-enabled Galaxy Watch, tap the toggle next to Mobile Networks.
  • The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be disconnected from your phone if you turn off Bluetooth. So to re-establish that connection, youll need to turn Bluetooth back on.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Battery Life Is It Legit

Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 42mm- Battery Life Test!

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is the first watch to run on Google and Samsungs new and improved Wear OS platform. But is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4s battery life any good? Lets find out

Apple is currently dominating the smartwatch market with its Apple Watch. If you check peoples wrists when youre out and about as I do, youll notice that nearly every single person that has a smartwatch uses Apple Watch. There are exceptions, of course, but Apple Watch is very, very popular.

This is largely down to Apples immense brand appeal. And the fact that LOTS of people use iPhones. This is why AirPods are so popular: people love and like to buy into the Apple ecosystem. This appeal is the secret sauce inside Apples enduring success this past decade and a half. Me? I prefer to use Garmin watches but thats because Im a runner.

When it comes to non-Apple Watch smartwatches, the next best option on the market for about as long as I can remember is Samsung. Up until 2021, Samsung used its own Tizen OS inside its wearables. And that was fine, Tizen had plenty of decent features as well as great fitness and health tracking plus things like GPS and heart monitoring.

But from 2021 onwards, to push a reimagined version of Wear OS to the masses. The new Wear OS is leagues better than the old version and with Samsungs help and brand appeal it should make the platform much more widely used in 2021 and beyond.

Samsung Galaxy Watch : Hardware And Design

Given Samsung’s iterative approach to hardware design over the past few years, it’s no surprise that the Watch 4 looks like the Watch Active 2 and the Watch 4 Classic looks like the Watch 3. The names might be confusing, but there’s a continuity here that I appreciate.

I reviewed the larger versions of both watches, and each of them comes with 20mm sport bands made of fluoroelastomer, a synthesized rubber that’s generally comfortable and doesn’t irritate the skin. The good news is that, unlike the Apple Watch, the lugs support any quick-release watch strap, and I got to work replacing the sport band on the Classic with a lovely blue leather band from an old Victorinox I still wear from time to time.

    20mm20mm

The protruding lugs look fantastic paired with a traditional band, but the fact that they curve down and inwards puts a pretty sizeable gap between the watch’s side and your wrist, a necessary sleight of hand to ensure the watch’s bulbous 3-in-1 health sensor makes solid contact with your wrist.

The digital crown has its virtues, but there’s still nothing like using Samsung’s rotating bezel to navigate around Wear OS.

The side of each watch has two buttons that pull triple duty depending on the situation. A single press of the top button always goes home the same action on the bottom button returns to the previous screen . Holding the top button activates Bixby or the power menu holding the bottom always brings up Samsung Pay.

Still The Best Android Watch For Now

The Galaxy Watch 5 does a good job of straddling the middle ground between a standard smartwatch and a fitness watch. But battery life takes a hit because of all those smart features. If you push it to its limits with extended workouts, you’ll soon find yourself needing to charge more frequently than you might expect.

    Common Phone Repair Issues

    • Because phone screens are made of glass material, it can easily crack after an accidental drop or fall. Cracks could lead to further problems with your touchscreen responses. Also, they could allow moisture to get through to the phone over time. It is therefore important to have it repaired as soon as it gets damaged. The solution to such a problem is to have the cracked screen replaced as soon as possible. But dont just stop there. Make sure you prevent future occurrences by investing in a reliable screen protector and phone case.
  • Accidents happen to even the most cautious. One minute you could be having your phone submerged into water. While you may think this is the end of your smartphone given that water damage is a very serious issue, a professional phone repair pro could help.Instead of panicking, just switch your phone off and take it to a mobile phone repair pro. Do not try to fix the problem on your own as this can only further complicate issues. A phone repair technician will assess how bad the damage, disassemble the devices to perform proper water damage cleaning and then either repair or replace the damaged parts where necessary.
  • Turn Off Wifi Nfc Touch Sensitivity And Location Services

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (46mm) Full Specifications, Features ...

Your smartwatch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. And, your Watch doesnt need to know your location all the time, especially since it can use your phones GPS to triangulate your position when needed.

To turn both of these settings off, swipe up from your watch face, head to the quick settings menu, and disable both WiFi and Location Services. This will help save your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4s battery life.

Plus, if you do not use Google or Samsung Pay, you can also disable NFC to save up on battery life. Lastly, if you do not use gloves, disabling Touch Sensitivity also saves up on battery life and reduces battery drain on the Samsung Galaxy Watch / Watch 4 Classic.

Heres a table of all the settings you should be disabling on your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic from the quick-settings menu:

Solution : Turn Off Unused Health Trackers On Your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

The Samsung Health Monitor uses several sensors to keep track of your health. These sensors use up battery life so its best to turn some of these off if you are not interested in its data at the moment. You can simply turn it back on at a later time when needed.

    Turn off health trackers

Some of the health trackers you can turn off are as follows:

Sleep: Tap Settings at the bottom of the menu, turn the switch off, and then tap OK to confirm.

Heart rate: Tap Auto HR Settings from the bottom of the menu, and then tap Never.

Stress: Tap Auto stress settings from the bottom of the menu, and then turn the switch off.

With the health trackers turned off when not needed, try to check if the battery life of the device has improved significantly.

    Fighting Fitbit On Fitness Features

The Watch 4 series is certainly ambitious and really gunning for not just Apple but also smartwatches from fitness specialists, Garmin and Fitbit. Workout sessions track a huge range of activities walking, running, squats, stretches, swimming, weights, ellipticals, leg curls, aerobics, and more.

The gyro sensors are much better than those on the Watch 3 too as they register movements much more accurately, especially on your hourly stretches if you have the prompt set on the watch to remind you to get out of your office chair/off the sofa more often during the day.

Previously, on a set of ten reps it would take four or five before the watch would start counting them. Now they all seem to be counted, although one or too sloppy reps still wont get counted if you half-ass it, but it always feels fair now.

Heart rate tracking seems more reliable this time around and is best left to always-on, rather than just manual testing if you want to set some decent baselines for regular ratings at resting and exertion.

More in-depth health features are a bit hit and miss. The new body composition metrics measurement sensor enabled by placing fingers on the two buttons for a short time gives readings for body fat, skeletal muscle, BMI, body water, and more after you give it your weight.

Samsung Galaxy Watch : Battery Life

As much as Id like to call the battery life a let down its a far cry from a dealbreaker. Samsung estimates the Galaxy Watch 4 can last 40 hours with regular use. It said something similar last year, but as I cover in my guide to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 vs. Galaxy Watch 3, with GPS, activity tracking and the always-on display enabled, I needed to charge every 24 hours.

Daily charging is just the norm for most mobile devices we use every day. Sure, many great smartwatches and many of the best fitness trackers last several days without a charge. But as long as youre not disappearing into the woods for a week, I wouldnt get caught up on the difference between 40 hours and a day.

I wish the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 battery life was more consistent, though. I found some days the watch needed to be charged more often than 24 hours.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic: Battery Backup

Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Battery Test How Great Is The Battery Life?

The battery backup is probably the biggest drawback of this watch, and of all smartwatches in general. I was hoping the battery life would have improved by now, but its still where it was a year or two ago barely over a day. To make matters worse, fitness watches have spoilt us with battery life upwards of a week, and in some cases, even over two weeks. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic lasts about 26 to 29 hours, and quite frankly, I find that unacceptable. It doesnt go beyond 30 hours even on days when you dont use GPS.

I hadnt even switched on too many notifications or the always-on display during testing, nor did I take multiple oxygen and other biometric measurements daily. The standby time isnt great either, with the watch struggling to last the night with 15 percent battery remaining, and that too without wearing it to bed to track my sleep. The company bundles a wireless charger that takes close to two hours to charge the watchs 361 mAh battery fully thats not too fast either.

Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Draining Fast How To Fix

    Posted on by Andrew Myrick

When it comes to the best smartwatches for Android, the options for Wear OS devices are pretty limited. Much like the smartphone market, Samsung has a stranglehold on the market. This trend continues with the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic.

However, while Samsung didnt really do much to change up the design of its latest smartwatches, the company did shift over to Googles Wear OS instead of sticking with TizenOS. Unfortunately, this move has been met with some battery issues, with users complaining about the battery of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic draining fast. Today, were taking a look at a few different ways that you can try to fix those problems.
